Mobile Page Speed
It has been brought to our attention that we may have yet another reason to stay on our toes when it comes to Google ranking in SEO terms with their most recent announcement that mobile page speed may affect the actual mobile ranking of businesses in the coming months.
As Google has plans to update their mobile-friendly algorithm in the coming months, Gary Illes has made it very clear that this is Google’s next plan to step- up the company’s already relentless ranking strategy. Announced back in 2013, Matt Cutts made some hints toward Google’s focus shifting toward mobile devices, as well as a warning for those that tend to experience slow page speed through mobile use; so it is officially time to step up our game.
In a 2016 April article done by Smart Insights marketing specialist Dave Chaffey, recent statistics show that “mobile digital media time in the US is now significantly higher at 51% compared to desktop (42%).” As the desktop is slowly losing its luster in the technological world, the smartphone’s presence is only becoming more potent.
Regardless of the fact that it is totally rational for this shift toward mobile page speed, it is still unclear when exactly Google will be implementing this pending ranking factor. However, Gary Illes’ hints point toward the coming months so the time to focus on mobile page optimization is upon us!
